Twilight and night racing confirmed for the 2027 betr Darwin Triple Crown.
The betr Darwin Triple Crown is set for another major evolution in 2027, with Supercars to race under lights at Hidden Valley Raceway for the first time in Darwin.
Following the event’s biggest program to date in 2026, the 2027 format is planned to feature a Friday race under lights, a Saturday twilight race and a Sunday daytime finale, giving fans three distinct ways to experience Supercars in the Top End. Final scheduling will be confirmed in due course.
The new format will bring a fresh spectacle to one of the Repco Supercars Championship’s most popular stops, combining the speed and sound of Supercars with Darwin’s famous dry season evenings, hospitality and visitor experiences.
Minister for Tourism and Hospitality and Minister for Major Events, Marie-Clare Boothby, said the announcement showed the Territory continued to lead the way in motorsport and major events.
“The Territory is absolutely in pole position,” Minister Boothby said.
“There’s nowhere like the Territory.”
Minister Boothby said twilight and night racing would create even more opportunities for Territorians and visitors to enjoy Darwin beyond the track, from sunset markets and hospitality venues to parks, attractions and one-of-a-kind events.
Minister for People, Sport and Culture, Jinson Charls, said the move was a win for fans, local businesses and the Territory’s reputation as a premier motorsport destination.
Supercars Executive Chairman and Interim Chief Executive Officer Barclay Nettlefold said racing under lights would add another dimension to the Darwin Triple Crown.
“There is nothing quite like Supercars under lights,” Mr Nettlefold said.
He said bringing night racing to Hidden Valley would make the Darwin event one of the must-see rounds of the 2027 season.
Hidden Valley Raceway has hosted Supercars Championship rounds since 1998, cementing Darwin’s place as a favourite on the national motorsport calendar. The addition of night and twilight racing continues the event’s evolution, following the introduction of Supercars racing across all three days in 2026.
The 2026 betr Darwin Triple Crown will deliver its biggest program yet, with Repco Supercars Championship racing across all three days for the first time, Darwin’s first Dunlop Super2 Series round, monster trucks, Summernats Goes Top End, Track to Town, family activities and the annual Supercars Indigenous Round.
Delivered by the Northern Territory Government, Darwin Supercars continues to showcase the Top End as a world-class motorsport and events destination, bringing together racing, culture, entertainment and Territory adventure.
More details for 2027 will be announced in due course.
